I love Guns. I love both the music and the ORIGINAL lineup. I have a dislike the Axls cover band. I also have a mild dislike for Velvet Revolvers, mainly being that it's not quite to my taste. Slash is an inspiration. But thats coming from the person who was previously inspired by Brian Blessed and Ozzy Osbourne.

Have to admit that Richard Fortus is a bad ass guitarist. If i'd have any doubts about him they're just gone after i've heard his contribution to Soundgarden's " Black Hole Sun" tribute/cover. He nailed fuckin solo!! And it's far from easy….takes a real class to do it. Yet….all that just makes everything harder and more pointless. Did Fortus ever wrote a good tune in his life? No. He's in the band for…15 years now. Where's a single piece of a decent rnr work?? The point , the purpose of a rhythm guitarist in GnR is something else. There are two types of guitarists.Type one are players..just like Slash is. Other type are songwritters, anchormen in the band, back vocals signatured, creativity boosters. They don't have to be a killer players….they have to know how to build up the songs. And very rare are those guitarists who have both elements. Joe Satriani , Steve Vai, even Joe Perry or Angus Young, never wrotte a monster tune. Monster solos and guitar lines, yes; but the arrangements, ideas, the feel…nope. While Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Malcom Young and surely Izzy Stradlin wrote more hit songs than clothes they have in theirs closets ….Richard Fortus is just another killer guitarist with very good insight to the industrial rock sound and approach. Since Izzy left the band GNR haven't recorded a song worth mentioning. Not even close to this tune , which is just another Izzy's walk in a park. Axl cursed himself with his own lyrics, selfishly trying to endulge his own lament towards love gone bad and he was 28, too much young to let love break his hart :). "Estranged" , as a masterpiece done then and never again, turned his private relationship lament into a curse towards the relationship with the band as he never found anyone to replace Izzy. He never made it through….Izzy wrotte, recorded and realised about 100 songs since 1991. Axl did 14. Axl's work lacks basic quallity and straight rnr feel. Izzy lacks the magic of Slash, Duff and Matt ( let's say) trio as a dozen of his songs from solo albums remained unknown and underrated just for being rough diamonds. They miss the fine work of the killer players and charisma vocals. Unfinished masterpiece GNR remained……and the feel that we all need cannot be found on Chinese Democracy.
