President Obama is to unveil controversial plans to introduce new gun controls in the US. The president had previously admitted that his lack of progress on the issue had been one of the greatest regrets of his presidency. The new measures would include tighter background checks, and tackling a current loophole which allows firearms to bought without checks at gun shows.
