Yup. I am a PS2 player of this game. Now I'm gonna go relive the nightmares I got the first time I ever played it…

This game terrified me as a kid, but it was so fun and engaging. Going through spears and bones after running our of ammo, squinting through the fog waiting for velociraptors to attack, the giant bugs, trying to hopelessly outrun the v rexes. It was truly one of if not the first survival horror experience I ever grew up with.

Those chapters where it was you vs that giant Trex were so nerve wracking. Running from cover to cover hiding from that unkillable beast.

14:10 Did StarForce seriously corrupt your boot drive? I thought it would only render OSes newer than XP unbootable (which is fixed by deleting .dll files associated with the DRM).

As a horror game, it's scary as hell. As an action game, it's exhilarating. As an adventure game, it's thrilling. It's shocking how this game was so forgotten.

I first played this game when I was 7 and it scared the ever loving shit out of me. Just walking through a tight space, hearing light skittering noises before a giant millipede jumps out of no where.

Honestly, having never played this game, if almost anybody else told me Peter Jackson's King Kong The Official Game Of The Movie was actually good, I would have laughed in their face.

Michel Ancel proved to be a brilliant game director, creating back to back classics with Beyond Good & Evil and King Kong. So, naturally, Ubisoft decided enough is enough and assigned him to nothing but Rayman games from 2005 on. Because it makes sense that a creative genius should be assigned to "directing" the same casual platform game over and over, like Sisyphus forever pushing a boulder up the hill.

i like the point that you dont need to see on screen deaths because the danger and fear was felt by jack and by the player. or at least this game scared by 13 year old ass something, the survival horror ness of it all was wonderful for me back then and prob still

Got this in a 360 bundle around the console's launch along with Condemned: Criminal Origins. I looooved this game's lack of hud and immersion, same with condemned, had such a great start to 7th gen 😀

My dream is to become a AAA game developer and make a Tiberuim spiritual successor. So I can tell EA go F*** yourself in the face for leaving a potential masterpiece and ruin the C&C even more with a mobile game.

This game occupies a modestly-sized slot in my childhood memory — I remember loving it except when I was actually playing it. It just seemed more "immersive" than other story-driven shooters of the time (CoD) — I think that "de-game-ifying" approach gave it more kudos than it really deserved but I appreciate it as a little experiment Wingnut attempted. If this shit happened nowadays they'd be trying to turn it into a game IP with multiple installments. Guess that's one time the big wigs writing off the video game medium actually worked in our favor.

I love games that don't bombard you with HUD clutter and just let you immerse yourself in the world.
